The complementary backgrounds of the AFS directors range from expertise in hydrogen generation, storage and chemistry to engineering and electronics project management as well as considerable international business experience.

David Still CBE, Chairman
Director of Stillwind where he advises companies on renewable energy issues. Over the last 26 years he has worked as a wind developer, as a UK government advisor on renewable energy, and as a wind turbine manufacturer with US based, AIM listed, Clipper Windpower. There he led on the development of a 10 MW offshore wind turbine.
He developed the UK's first offshore wind farm at Blyth. For 5 years he was the Chairman of the British Wind Energy Association overseeing change to a business focussed organisation and led discussions with industry, Government and The Crown Estate to formulate policy for the offshore wind sector.
He was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) on 29th December 2007 for services to Energy.
Prof Tony Marmont, Founder.
Renewable energy pioneer. Has run wind farms in Texas and created biomass businesses in the UK. His direct sponsorship of research at leading UK universities into hydrogen fuel cells and other technologies has led to the development of AFS.
Peter Harrison, CEO.
Qualified Civil Engineer with a career spanning civil engineering, offshore developments and the chemical industry, concentrating on project and business account management for ICI and other major businesses. Considerable project management experience.
Stephen Burwood, Finance Director.
Senior positions with some of accounting industry profession’s largest firms. Lead partner of Positive Tax Solutions and currently Chairman of the North Yorkshire branch of the Institute of Directors.

Monique Purdy, Director.
30 years’ experience in heating, insulation and renewable energy companies and Managing Director of The Insulation Company Ltd. Has achieved inward investments of up to £15 million for regional economic growth and employment projects. Experienced and successful campaigner at national level for climate change, sustainability and carbon reduction initiatives.
Dr David Benton, Founder.
Chemist with a PhD from Warwick University and an MSc in Renewable Energy and the Environment from Reading University. Ran major research projects at the Atomic Weapons Establishment at Aldermaston for 28 years.
Dr John Barton, Director of Innovation.
Designed gas-turbines for Rolls-Royce plc for 11 years. MSc and PhD in renewable energy from Loughborough University where he is a lead researcher. Director/consultant at Bryte Energy Ltd.
Bob Jennings, Director of Science and Technology.
Extensive research and technology experience in the chemical industry. Author/inventor of 100+ relevant papers and patents. International reputation in catalysis. Specialist knowledge in ammonia and methanol manufacture.
Graham Truscott, Director of Marketing and Investor Relations.
International business experience as Global Communications Director, IMI plc; Global Head of Brand, Rolls-Royce plc; Senior Editor, HarperCollins; Researcher, National Geographic Magazine. Founder Derby Carbon Initiative, a Transition consultancy and two Transition groups.
Brian Sykes, Company Secretary.
Experienced banker. Since 2001 he has worked for Beacon Energy Ltd, Renewable Energy Consultants, as Director of Finance. Has been a member of Advisory Boards in Renewable Energy faculties at the University of Nottingham and at Loughborough University

The team at Air Fuel Synthesis believe there is a strong case, based on energy security and ambitious carbon reduction targets, to develop a drop in, near carbon neutral, aviation fuel using low carbon electricity, hydrogen, and atmospheric carbon dioxide.
