| Tony Marmont makes the front page! |
| 2011.12.12 11:27:24 | |
On tuesday 6th December, in the Business Post, you may have noticed a chap on the front page with the headline 'Could this man save the world?' Well, as it happens, that man was me. This article, written by Mark Patterson, at the nottingham Post, explains my views on renewable energy, the earths dependance on fossil fuels, an update on 'The Dribbler' , and one or two interesting stories. To read the full article, click on the link below, but here is a taster for you: "A QUICK look through Tony Marmont's kitchen window tells you a lot about the man's abiding core interests. Centre front, at the bottom of a hill, is the large lake he built on his 50 acres of rolling green farmland near Loughborough. To the right you can see two wind turbines turning gracefully in a late November breeze. On the ground to the left, almost out of sight, is an array of solar PV and solar water-heating panels tilted up towards the sky. In the foreground, immediately outside the window, hang several bird feeders which attract constant attention from blue tits and even an occasional woodpecker. Environmental concern and renewable energy – these are the current intertwined interests of a millionaire businessman who, at 81, not only has no intention of slowing down but is about to thrown himself into a new venture that might just save the world from itself. Sometime towards the end of the year, Marmont and four business partners will switch on a small pilot plant to manufacture a liquid hydrocarbon fuel that will do the same job as oil-based fuels. If all goes well they intend to build a larger plant, then an even bigger one, with the eventual aim of producing 1,000 tonnes of fuel a day. The production process, called Air Fuel Synthesis, combines carbon dioxide and hydrogen to make hydrocarbon fuel. Since the raw material supplying these molecules is air, the supply of the fuel is, in theory, infinite." | Why BBC's Panorama got it wrong on Green Energy |
| 2011.12.01 11:59:28 | |
BBC's Panorama suggested that green energy is pushing your bills up. They were wrong. Action For Renewables' Chair Tony Juniper explains why. I feel this is an excellent rebuttal by Tony. | Shell: biofuels are the best alternative to oil-based transport fuels for the next 20 years |
| 2011.11.18 10:45:38 | |
"Shell re-affirmed its belief that biofuels are the best alternative to oil-based transport fuels for the next 20 years at F.O. Licht's World Ethanol & Biofuels in Barcelona on 8 November. In a keynote interview to open the conference, Arthur Reijnhart, General Manager, Alternative Energies and Fuel Development Strategy for Shell, painted a picture of an increasingly diverse energy supply landscape against a backdrop of soaring demand between now and 2050, driven by population growth, increasing incomes and increasing urbanisation of the world's population." Here is an article that my local newspaper, the Leicester Mercury, wrote about me, my views on sustainablility and renewable energy, and the Air Fuel Synthesis technology I am committed to developing. I have included the text below, but if you would liket to see the full article as it was in the newspaper, please take a look at the image below. | According to a new study, the public supports geo-engineering ideas |
| 2011.10.27 13:00:12 | |
BBC news on Monday posted an article about the strong support among the public in the US, UK and Canada for more research on geo-engineering technology, a study colmmissioned by researchers in North America, has suggested. This survey focused on "solar radiation management", which involves reflecting energy from the Sun away from the Earth's surface, and received support from 72% of respondents. The findings appear in the Environmental Research Letters journal. AFS can play its part in geo engineering, during the course of oil manufacture using the AFS process to make oil from air, the resulting fuel can be used as a carbon neutral replacement for fossil fuel, or it can be put back down the empty oil wells in the North sea where it will be SECURLEY sequestered for thousands of years. Once this process is under way then as the CO2 level starts to fall back from 380 ppm, and comes down to 300 ppm which may be considered ideal for the planet , the oil burying process can be stopped, or if the level for any reason starts to fall below 300 , thus starting a return to an ice age then it can be pumped back out and burned to release the CO2 as desired to maintain the 300 ppm level. | Energy bills set to soar according to Energy Minister Chris Huhne |
| 2011.10.17 16:47:19 | |
Mr Huhne is conducting a summit with the big six power firms after Ofgem found widespread overcharging and a lack of transparency in different tariffs. We applaud the fact the Government is looking into energy costs, and recognizing that there is a growing fuel and energy crisis. At AFS we are deeply concerned about energy security and resource depletion which ultimately drive the problem. I would welcome the opportunity to talk with Mr Huhne and his advisors over how our carbon neutral fuel synthesis programme can provide a real solution to this countrys fuel and energy crisis long term. | World sight day |
| 2011.10.13 14:34:41 | |
World Sight Day is an annual day to raise awareness about blindness and visually impaired people around the world as an international public health issue. We can all see the devastating effects that fossil fuels have had on our planet and with supplies running out fast; we need to start seeing the alternatives of renewable energy solutions as viable options. I am passionate and fully believe that the technology is there to create 'clean' fuel using renewable energy, and that, if we don't utilise what renewable sources we have now, and develop them to a commercial level, as fossil fuels do run out and climate change becomes more of an issue, the economic, practical and environmental impact worldwide will he huge. Rather than being blind to this energy crisis, AFS and I are urging people to 'see' the various solutions available, before it is too late.Tags: alternative fuel | technology | environmental | energy crisis | renewable energy | climate change | AFS Hits: 97 | Read more... |

| The energy crisis IS looming, so what are we going to do about it? |
| 2011.09.08 11:19:17 | |
The time available for action is decreasing rapidly, not just for deterioration of climate change and consequent horrific results, but also the famine of energy that will hit us in the next four years. We see evidence daily of abrupt and violent weather all over the world, are we blind? The energy crisis will be caused by the rapidly increasing off take of oil by China, Asia and India. When the crisis hits us, we will be enveloped in war to gain the dwindling reserves for each country. At the same time we will no longer be able physically to build the renewable energy machinery we need to get out of the crisis because of social disorder and the breakdown of civilised society. ‘Civilisation’ loss is caused by as little three meals unobtainable, lack of water and lack of heat and power. Yes, we can get out but only if we react in a massive way with ruthless determination now. When we built the canals, railways and the motorways, we didn’t debate the issue then funk out, we just did it. That’s what’s needed now! On an upbeat note, the pilot AFS plant is now under construction to produce carbon neutral transport fuel from air and the output of wind turbines and will be running at West Beacon Farm from our renewable energy sources by the end of this year.
